The PRIN 2020 call has been launched, with over 700 million allocated to the funding of Research Projects of Significant National Interest. The objective is to promote the national research system, strengthen interactions between universities and research institutions, and encourage Italian participation in initiatives within the framework of the European Union's Research and Innovation Framework Programme.
The PRIN programme funds three-year projects which, due to their complexity and nature, require the collaboration of research units belonging to universities and research institutions.
Specifically, the call provides for the activation of a single funding procedure with the opening of annual windows for the submission of research projects also for the years 2021 and 2022.
Approximately 179 million euros will be the funding available for 2020, with 18 million reserved for projects submitted by researchers under 40. For the years 2021 and 2022, the ordinary resources allocated to PRIN will amount respectively to 250 million and 300 million euros.
The 2020 call reintroduces the mechanism of direct disbursement of the contribution to the universities and/or institutions hosting the research units, which will take place in a single advance payment. Another new feature is a new and simplified project evaluation procedure.
The deadline for the submission of project proposals for the 2020 window runs from 25 November 2020 to 26 January 2021.
On 16/10/2020, by MUR Director's Decree no. 1628, the Call was issued, with the deadline set at 15:00 on 26/1/2021 exclusively online.
The fillable forms will be made available on the website http://prin.miur.it/ starting from 15:00 on 25/11/2020
