Disability Office
The Disability Office carries out guidance activities for students with disabilities and with SLD at the time of entry to the university and provides support throughout the entire course of study, with the aim of identifying and planning the types of assistance necessary for each student to successfully complete their degree programme.
Rector’s Delegate for Poliba is Prof. Floriano Scioscia.
The Delegate, as provided for by Law no. 17/99 "Supplementation and amendment of framework law 5 February 1992, no. 104, concerning assistance, social integration and the rights of persons with disabilities", has the following functions: coordination, monitoring and support of all initiatives concerning the integration of students with disabilities within the University.
The Delegate also participates in the work of CNUDD (National University Conference of Delegates for Disability), which, within its own guidelines, further specifies the provisions of the law by defining:
the ‘coordination’ as an activity aimed above all at:
- raising awareness within the University regarding issues related to disability and university students with disabilities
- preparing and implementing collaborative initiatives among universities and with local stakeholders operating in this field
- planning and implementing an ‘instrumental’ and ‘organisational’ approach intended to improve accessibility, both physical and educational, the application of the right to study, and the creation of good practices for the development of initiatives aimed at socialisation and personal well-being
- connecting various sectors of scientific research when related to activities aimed at promoting the inclusion of university students with disabilities and their access to knowledge
the ‘monitoring’ as an activity of oversight on the correct application of laws and good practices implemented through its coordinating role within the University
the ‘support’ as an activity related:
- both to the activity of Department contacts and to their responsible presence within the University
- and to the activity of the staff of the Disability Office
and as a constant point of reference for the University on matters concerning disability.
Department Contacts for students with disabilities:
DICAR: Prof. Sergio Bisciglia
DICATECH: Prof. Mauro Dell'Orco
DMMM: Professor Sabina L. Campanelli

In order to promote better integration of students with Disabilities or SLD into university life and ever greater participation in the activities envisaged by their study paths, the Departments have appointed a faculty contact person for students with Disabilities or with SLD. The Department contacts collaborate with the Rector’s Delegate for Disability and with the Disability Secretariat to support students with disabilities or with SLD enrolled in Degree Programmes pertaining to the Department, upon request.
