HOW IT WORKS

If you need a Study VISA for Italy (e.g. non-EU students living abroad) you must follow the Procedures issued by the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research for Entry, Residency and Enrolment at Higher Education Institutions for Students Requiring VISAS for higher Education Courses in Italy by submitting your pre-enrolment request through Universitaly Platform (www.universitaly.it).

1) HOW TO START?

To start the pre-enrolment application you must register on the Universitaly Platform (www.universitaly.it).

Check our GENERAL OVERVIEW (ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026). Here you will find the documents you need to provide us.

At the end of the admission procedure, if you are eligible, your pre-enrolment application will be validated on the Universitaly Platform.

In order to validate your application, remember that we need to verify the authenticity of your qualification.

The authenticity can be prove with “attestato di verifica Cimea”, “attestato Enic Naric”o legalizzazione/apostille, contact with the foreign institute.

2) YOU CAN START THE VISA APPLICATION TO THE RELEVANT DIPLOMATIC-CONSULAR MISSIONS

The procedure may vary depending on the provisions issued by the relevant diplomatic-consular Missions.

Check the deadlines for VISA APPLICATIONS.

A general deadline for Visa applying has been set on 30^th November 2025, but it is a candidate’s responsibility to inquire about specific modalities and deadlines.

The final decision on the issue of a visa for study purposes is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the diplomatic/consular Mission.

Please note that pre-enrollment at the university does not, in any way, guarantee an appointment with the diplomatic-consular representations to submit visa applications.
We also remind you that, as already stated in the ministerial circular entitled "Procedures for the entry, residence, enrollment of international students and the related recognition of qualifications for higher education courses in Italy valid for the 2025-2026 academic year" on page 7, the prior acceptance of a candidate by the university does not confer any right to obtain a visa, given that issuing study visas is the exclusive responsibility of the individual diplomatic-consular representations.

If the Embassy/Consulate accepts your request, it will issue an entry VISA for study purposes.

3) NOW YOU CAN COMPLETE THE ENROLMENT AT POLITECNICO DI BARI

• Declaration of Values or Attestato di comparabilità Cimea
• Original Foreign Qualification
• All the document you have uploaded in the Universitaly Platform for the evaluation

UPON YOUR ARRIVAL IN ITALY

Residence Permit

Non-EU citizens must apply for the stay permit within 8 working days from their arrival. You must forward a request for a residence permit for STUDY to the police headquarter (Questura) responsible for the city where you intend to establish your residence. Permesso di soggiorno (poliziadistato.it)

Tax Code

The Italian tax code (codice fiscale) is an alphanumeric code which allows Italian authorities to identify every individual. You will obtain it once you are in Italy - the tax code is issued by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate). The tax code is essential if you need to sign a contract in Italy, open a bank account, or access various public services (including health services).
